A dedicated and enthusiastic team

At Argo Santé, we know that the wants and needs of the unwell or disabled affect us all. We believe that our health system should address those disadvantaged groups’ unmet needs and tailor its management and support to their expectations, as well as those of the professionals who support them. For us, that has to mean acknowledging the individual experiences of the people involved. That ambition drives us: it’s even in our DNA!

Marieke Podevin, Founder

After graduating with a PhD in Macro-Econometrics, Marieke Podevin joined France’s Health Ministry in 2004, working first within the Research, Studies, Evaluation and Statistics Division (DREES) and later the Healthcare Future Committee (HCAAM), two experiences that shaped her vision of the health system and the challenges it faces. Having herself founded and chaired an advocacy group for patients with a rare condition, SOS DESMOIDE, she decided to share her experience and expertise as an economist with a major patient advocacy group and joined the AFM-TELETHON in 2008 to highlight patients’ wants and needs and medico-economic issues such as the price and cost of innovative therapies and orphan medicinal products. She founded the company ARGO Santé in 2014 with the roadmap she has followed for over twenty years: using patients’ expertise to transform the health system.

Gaëlle Thomas, Research Analyst

After graduating both a French « Grande école » of Chemistry and A Msc in Chemistry/Biochemistry/Biology specialized in drug development, Gaëlle Thomas joined Roche and the Montpellier Institute of Cancerology (IRCM) to complete a PhD project on monoclonal antibodies directed against pancreatic tumors developed on mice models. She then decided to connect her scientific knowledge with patients’ “real life”, on a more translational position, moving towards clinical research. She joined the Centre Val de Loire regional committee against HIV and the infectious disease department of the Orléans hospital as both Clinical research associate and Study site coordinator, specialized on HIV. This position led her to get involved in the whole process of clinical trials, from the protocol design and regulatory requirements compliance to the contact with healthcare teams and patients. Eager to make the patients and disabled voice heard with a both human and scientific approach, she joined Argo Santé in 2020 as study manager.
